Named after its mountainside location, The Heights
was built in the 1980’s as the family home for one of the town’s most
imaginative builders. You’ll be charmed by the little additions he’s
made to the house to make it unique. Although we’ve modernized the
décor and upgraded the guest accommodation to luxury standards,
we’ve tried to maintain the home’s cosy, cottagey feel.
About your Hosts
New Zealand is our adopted home.
We came here on vacation a few years ago, fell in love with it, and
like so many others, made it our home.
Phil’s
originally from England, where he grew up. He went to Canada to finish
his postgraduate education. We met in Nova Scotia, where Vicky had
emigrated from the States. We married in 1979. After a long and
interesting career that has included stints as a university professor,
professional actor, and telecommunications specialist for one of
America’s largest companies, Phil has settled into teaching at a local
high school.
Vicky is a
professional writer, who after many years in advertising, has now
returned to her first love and, when not busy with her duties as your
host, spends her spare time writing novels.
Both of us love to
travel and have lived abroad. Our home is filled with mementos we’ve
picked up along the way and we enjoy sharing travel stories with our
guests.
