It's been a warm
winter and spring's come early at The Heights. Our garden is at
its glorious best.
We just had our annual Qualmark inspection and are proud that for the
fourth year in a row, we've been rated "Four Star Plus." We're
also very excited because we've been awarded for the second year in a
row Qualmark's prestigious Enviro Silver rating, as a result of
our
environmental and sustainability initiatives. We were the
first property on the Coromandel to receive this award and among the
first 100 tourism providers in New Zealand, as well.
We're also bursting with pride over two awards we won at Thames B&B
competition during this year's Coromandel Homegrown Festival.
Phil's whole wheat bread and Vicky's Asian-inspired tea tray both took
first place in their categories.
Part of our responsible tourism initiative is a new outdoor hot-tub,
which our guests love for its special massage feature. The
new spa is much more environmentally friendly than the old one.
It uses a quarter of the electricity consumption, plus it has silver
ionization filter and an ozone system to keep the water clean. This
minimizes the chemicals used.
Our new packages continue to be popular. "Carefree
Coromandel" lets guests experience New Zealand's outdoor
lifestyle by combining a night's accommodation with a gourmet BBQ
served in our park-like garden. For hikers there's " Pinnacles
Headstart", which combines a night at The Heights, gourmet breakfast
the next morning to set your up for your hike up to the Pinnacles,
plus accommodation for two at the DOC hut at the
top, and all the fixings for lunch, dinner and breakfast on the trail.
